Kelly-WardDr. Kelly Ward
Washington State University

By definition the chair’s role occupies a liminal space between faculty and more senior level administrators, and, in particular the dean. The session will provide perspectives and ideas for how to manage “up” and how to manage “down.” Relying on a discussion of common situations and cases from higher education, participants will address how to use different approaches and perspectives for dealing with difficult departmental situations.

Dr. Kelly Ward is professor and chair in the Department of Educational Leadership, Sport Studies & Educational/Counseling Psychology at Washington State University. She has published widely in the Review of Higher Education, Higher Education, Innovative Higher Education, and The Journal of Higher. A common theme in Dr. Ward’s work is a commitment to equity and diversity as well as the connection between theory and practice.

Seating is limited; please register by February 3rd.  Registration
